2024 Week 10 Term 3
End of Term Prayer
We thank you Lord, for our Term together. For the successes, challenges, and what we have learnt this Term we are grateful. Be with us as we spend our time with family and friends.
Give us strength and courage to do what is right; to be witnesses of our faith. Keep us safe in our activities; give us rest and good fun. As we prepare for Term 4, bring us all back to school refreshed and ready. Thank you for our friends and classmates, including staff, families and the community of St Joseph's Primary School who care for us all.
Amen
Dear Parents
As we approach the end of Term 3, I would like to thank students, staff and our parent community for a wonderful Term. I wish all of you a safe and restful holiday, before an exciting Term 4.
Showcase Spectacular
I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who made this school event so special. To our talented children who performed with energy, passion and dedication, you made the performance very memorable. To our amazing teachers and instructors, thank you, for nurturing our students' talents and allowing our children to explore new dance possiblities. A special shout out to Mrs Rachel Moss for leading our Creative Arts program and her team of creative dance teachers Miss Sarah and Miss Liz.
We are immensly grateful to our sponsor Port Macquarie Orthodontics, who have been a long time supporter of our school. A huge thank you to the P & F team and Mrs Renate Pope for her hard work preparing dinners and treats for the families. We are also very appreciative of the generous contribution from the P & F toward the sound and lighting for the shows.
To our parents and teachers who have helped behind the scenes to prepare for the showcase either decorating the Ogilvie Hall and grounds, building the Lolly stall or ensuring your children were ready with their dance costumes.
The Showcase Spectacular was a joyous celebration of hard work, creativity and school community spirit, your support of this event has been wonderful!
Bain Park
I want to revisit the topic of Bain Park and the use of park equipment by your children before and after school. It is crucial for parents to supervise their children during these times. Many families have embraced this message and are engaging positively while visiting the park, using the equipment and mixing with community members.
However, we are now reaching a point where children are still at the park, unsupervised and continue to engage in inappropriate behaviour and offensive language while in this public space. The school has zero-tolerance regarding this behaviour.
If such behaviour continues and names of children, or those who are identified and reported to me will now require their parent to attend the school for a meeting in order to address the behaviours of their child; happening in our community spaces while representing St Joseph's School.
Thank you for your understanding and support in addressing this matter with your child/children before it escalates into behavioural conversations with the school.
Colour Run
Our End of Term reward took place today. The Colour Run was organised by the teachers and our Parents and Friends. So much fun, excitement and colour for the students as they celebrate a positive and successful Term!
Stage 1 Staffing Update - Special Prayers
Mrs Petrina Lewis in Stage 1 is still unwell and currently under going further medical treatment for her condition. Please continue to pray for Petrina as she recovers.
In Mrs Lewis's absence, we are pleased to inform you that Mrs Kathryn Forster will continue on as classroom teacher into term 4. Our priority is to ensure that the learning experience remains consistent and of high quality despite the changes.
Thank you for your understanding and support during this time. We appreciate your cooperation and wish Mrs Lewis a speedy recovery.
Connecting to Country
On the last day of Term, Friday 27 September 2024, staff will be 'Connecting to Biripai Country' through visiting locations, sites and experiencing Aboriginal culture, histories and perspectives with our Birapai Elders. The Professional Learning day has been organised by Mr Jamie Donovan and our school's AEW - Mrs Tegan Houghton who recieved a grant from the Together for Humanity organisation early this year.
The purpose of the connection to country will see teachers gain greater knowledge from this opportunity and improve their own teaching practice with their students in mind. We look forward to adding to the school's website the staff's journey of this experience.
As Term 3 draws to a conclusion it is imperative that outstanding School Fees are paid up-to-date. Term 4 fees will be billed early in the Term. Contact the Office 6585 1745 if you wish to activate a payment plan.
The Catholic School's Office have already contacted some families regarding school fee debts.
Our preferred option for payment of fees is B Pay or via the Compass app.

As of Term 4, we will be updating how we communicate with parents regarding Positive Behaviour Support (PBS). When a child receives a reflection due to a Major Behaviour incident, staff will continue to call parents to discuss the situation. However, instead of sending the restorative reflection sheet home with the student, parents will now receive this document via Compass.
This change ensures timely and efficient communication. We look forward to sharing further updates on our PBS approach throughout Term 4. Thank you for your continued support.
