Parent Community Forum Meeting Next Thursday!
I would like to extend a warm invitation to all parents and friends to join us for our next meeting on Thursday at 6 pm.
Your voice is incredibly important to us. The Parent Community Forum is a fantastic way to have a direct say in school activities, events, and fundraising efforts. This is your opportunity to contribute ideas, provide feedback, and help shape a positive and vibrant school community for our children. Whether you are a new face or a familiar one, your perspective is valued, and we would love to hear your thoughts.
I have outlined the agenda below to give you an idea of what we will be discussing.
Agenda
Sacrament of Confirmation – 2025
We are delighted to announce that the Sacrament of Confirmation will be celebrated at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, Wauchope on Friday 19 September 2025 at 5.30 pm, led by Bishop Gregory Homeming.
To be a candidate for Confirmation, a child must:
-
Have already received the Sacrament of Baptism
-
Be in Year 3 or above
If your child meets these requirements and you have not yet received the paperwork from the Parish, please contact Miss Anderson at sophie.anderson@lism.catholic.edu.au so we can support you in taking this important step in their faith journey.
We look forward to journeying alongside our candidates and their families as they prepare to receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit in this sacred Sacrament.
Inscription Mass – Saturday 30 August 2025 6:00pm
The Inscription Mass is a special moment in the Confirmation journey where our candidates are formally introduced to the parish community. During the Mass, their names will be presented, and the parish will be invited to keep them in their prayers as they prepare to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. This celebration marks the beginning of their final stage of preparation and reminds us all of the importance of supporting our young people in faith.
Building Strong Foundations in Reading and Spelling
Our school is working closely with the Catholic Schools Office (CSO) to help all students become confident readers and spellers. This year, we are focusing on strengthening how we teach literacy from Kindergarten to Year 6. With expert support from Alicia at MultiLit, Elissa (CSO InitiaLit Lead), Kerrin (CSO Primary School Lead), and Karen (CSO Hastings Education Office), our school leaders have been working alongside teachers—visiting classrooms, providing helpful feedback, and guiding professional learning.
A big focus in K – 2 is on using the InitiaLit program, which teaches important reading and spelling skills. One key goal is encouraging all students to respond together during lessons — called "choral response" — to build confidence, participation and student engagement. These strategies are also being extended into Year 3 to Year 6 to support their spelling programs. With a whole-school literacy goal in place, we are ensuring every child gets the best support in their learning journey.

Passive Play Toys Wanted
We are looking to expand our collection of passive play toys to support calm, creative play during break times.
If you have any good quality toys at home that are no longer in use, please consider donating them to the school. We are particularly looking for:
-
LEGO sets, mobilo, magnetic tiles and building blocks
-
Wooden toys, puzzles and games
-
STEM toys that encourage curiosity and exploration
-
Other quiet, imaginative play items including beading and loom band kits
These resources will help us create a more enriching and inclusive play environment for all students.
Please drop off any donations at the school office.
Thank you for your support in fostering creative and constructive play.
